The 2009-10 school year is off to a fast start. For seniors headed to college, here are a few sources for scholarship and financial aid information:
Scholarship opportunities will start to arrive in the counseling office beginning in September. Students are notified through the Scholarship Bulletin which lists the various scholarships available, both locally and nationally. It is distributed to all seniors once a month through their English classes, in B hall's display case next to the Counseling Office, and on the LHHS website which you can access by clicking on Counselors on the menu bar above.
One of the most popular sessions at the RISD College Fair is always financial aid. Plan now to attend. In addition, here is a listing of Financial Aid websites.
A tool that might help if you're feeling overwhelmed is the Counselors' Month-to-Month Planner for Seniors.
NCAA Clearinghouse
At the beginning of their senior year, students who are likely to be recruited as Division I or II college athletes need to apply to the NCAA Clearinghouse. See Tanna Badger in the Counselors' Office for details or call (469) 593-1039.
